San Mateo County Green Business Pilot Program
Building a Greener Business Community one Business at a Time

Are you a small business that wants to go Green? San Mateo County is now offering a chance for small and medium size businesses to become a Green Business. The county supervisor's office, the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce and the City of San Carlos have been working together to develop this voluntary program that can benefit the environment and the business community in several ways.  Learn More

Turn garbage into gardens!
Why throw away leaves, grass clippings, vegetables, and other organic caste when you can easily compost them into a soil conditioner richer than anything you can buy? Topics will include backyard composting, work composting and organic gardening. Your garden will thank you for using non-toxic methods.

Lower Home Enery Bills
Are your electricity and gas bills too high?
Are your electricity and gas bills too high? Sign up for a San Carlos Parks & Recreation class to learn how to perform your own mini-energy audit to lower your utility bills. A professional home energy auditor will review with you the most economical efficiency changes you can make. Learn the basics to perform your own mini-audit, including what to test, how to test, and what to look for. Receive useful information about free on-line energy audit software and resources for fixing problems you find. $5 lab fee payable to instructor at first class. A $50 set of audit tools will be offered for optional purchase.

Tree Canopy Program Gets Underway to Cool the Community . . .
San Carlos Green is initiating a new Tree Canopy Program, bringing together interested volunteers to participate in the planting and maintenance of new trees around the city.
