Vote in Support of Our City's Budget Crisis and the Environment
At the July 13 San Carlos City Council meeting, Council will vote on the Budget Measure they think is
most likely to succeed on the November ballot - a 1/2% Sales Tax or a 5%
Utility Tax.
Please support
energy and water conservation efforts in our community by signing this

Energy Efficiency and Weatherization Programs for Low Income, Elderly, or Disabled Residents
Programs provide free weatherization to homes to save energy year round. On average, weatherization can reduce heating bills by 31% and overall energy bills by $274 per year.

Carlos Green's Climate Action Gets Underway Stay Informed and Get Involved
The San Carlos community as a whole was responsible for emitting 229,193 metric tons
of CO2 equivalent in the base year 2005. Work is underway through the General Plan Committee to develop a Climate Action Plan for the City reduce our Community's carbon footprint and protect our
future. We encourage you to stay informed and get involved by attending the upcoming CAP meetings and reviewing related announcements and materials on our new Climate Action Blog.

San Carlos Green will be holding another Vista Park work day on Saturday, August 8th. We will be once again
working on our beautiful VistaPark native landscape. Since we planted last Spring, many
invasive weeds have begun to creep back.

Bike Buddies Hold Monthly Rides
Bike Buddies is a grass-roots, family oriented group that aims to support cycling in San Carlos by bringing together a community of people in a monthly Community Bike Ride. They also share knowledge about safety, equipment and local bike routs. Rides are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month rain or shine and are appropriate for all levels. On August 11, the City Council voted to accept Allied Waste’s proposal to
collect our food waste (including pizza boxes, food soiled paper packaging,
paper towels, bones, cheese, leftover meat, etc.) in our green yard bin every
week instead of our garbage bin. This makes San Carlos the FIRST city in
